Forty-four Bachelor of Design Arts graduands showcased their work from the Academy’s six Majors: Communication Design, Fashion & Costume Design, Filmmaking & Photography, Graphic & Digital Design, Interior Design and Visual Arts.
Exhibits ranged from fashion garments and product packaging design, to political art pieces, interior design portfolios and installation works.
The exhibition was held at the newly opened Collingwood Arts Precinct (CAP). The industrial warehouse acted as an exhibition space and runway venue, with the catwalk continuing out of the building into a sun-drenched courtyard.
The Academy was proud to partner with an organisation who shares its aspiration to create a thriving arts scene in Collingwood, Melbourne. CAP occupies a site which first opened in 1871 as the Collingwood School of Design and School of Art. It is close to the Academy’s refurbished warehouse campus, which will open in January 2018.
The Grad Show 2017 event was opened by CAP CEO Marcus Westbury. Other special guests included local councillors Jackie Fristacky and Daniel Nguyen, Professor Andrew Flitman (Chair of the Academic Board), Professor Tony Luff (member of the Academic Board) and Christian Marchand.
