Student Support

Who should I contact first about student support issues at the Academy?

The best place to start is the Academy's Student Support Manager, either in person (via the Administration Officer), by email: derrick.shaw@academyofdesign.edu.au or by phone (03 9676 9000). Our Student Support Manager will determine the best way to assist with whatever issue you have. For example:

  • If you are having financial difficulties, we can arrange a personal meeting with the Academy's Business Manager;
  • If you are having personal problems, we can arrange a referral to Lifeworks Counselling Service;
  • If you are having academic issues, we can arrange a personal meeting with one or more members of the Student Progress Committee, such as the Registrar or the Coordinator of Studies.

The Academy also has trained First Aid personnel, IT and technical support, and Contact Officers (male and female) who can offer advice about issues such as discrimination, bullying or harassment.

Can the Academy help with personal problems affecting my studies?

Yes. The Academy provides personal counselling services for students though Lifeworks. The service is confidential and fully subsidised by the Academy via a simple referral system.

Email: lifeworks@lifeworks.com.au

Does the Academy provide on-campus student accommodation?
